What happens to all the Tomatos after the event?

All tomato remnants will be earmarked for composting by members of The U.S. Composting Council (USCC). The USCC is a national, non-profit trade and professional organization promoting the recycling of organic materials through composting. To learn more, please visit www.compostingcouncil.org.

Are you a local grower with a surplus of tomatoes? We’ll use your surplus at this year’s events and turn the scraps into compost. Contact kristen.duncan@reedstreetproductions.com to learn more.

MESSIEST 5K ON EARTH

Inspired by the Spanish sensation, La Tomatina, The Tomato Run is a five-kilometer fun run incorporating pounds of inedible, surplus tomatoes that would otherwise go to waste.

The Tomato Run is adventure and fun for everyone where you can test your agility, or your aim!

Run, jump, dodge, and jog on a fun and incredibly messy course created with three “Tomato Zones” where the “Tomato Army” attempts to douse passing runners in squashed tomato remnants.

The end is just the beginning. Once runners cross the finish line, they enter the Tomato Arena where an all-out tomato battle begins - saucesome. And when you’ve had your fill, move on over to hose off stations, food, drinks, music, merchandise and a Kids Zone equipped with tomato based activities.
